11/02 Tar River report

Dry weather has once again pushed us down river this month with flows out of the dam at 79.0 CFS. We have been targeting Large Mouth Bass from Tarboro to Falkland the past few weeks with success. The continued warm weather has kept our topwater bite strong. 'Boogle Bugs' and Deer hair bugs have been my go to for fishing on top. We have started to see larger schools of fish appearing hunting baitfish throughout the river and the streamer bite is beginning to really pick up. The low and clear water still has the fish spooky, smaller streamers and lighter tippets have yielded the best results. Clouser minnows and finesse game changers have been my go to for streamers, 1.5"-3" is the target size.

Navigation on the lower river remains manageable even with the low flows. We have been the only boat on the water for weeks now and we have seen some great wildlife. Turkey, deer, beavers, and bald eagles just to name a few. The coming weeks are bringing in cooler weather and the streamer fishing should really start to pick up. Give me a call to get out on the river this month. 904-382-2277
